The treadmill of modern society

Today's society certainly isn't restful and it doesn't appear to promote happiness, since nearly two-thirds of Canadians (62%) think that the society in which we live makes it more difficult to achieve happiness.

Albertans appear to bear up under this weight somewhat better (57%), whereas Quebeckers lie at the opposite end of the spectrum with 64%.

It's also interesting to note that the larger the family, the greater the agreement with the statement. Surprisingly, this is firmly rooted even in the youngest group, with 57% of respondents in the 18–24 year old group sharing this feeling.

Lastly, it appears that education and income largely influence whether people feel that our society makes achieving happiness more difficult.
